With the support of our members and activists, Montana Wilderness Association works to ensure that the wild public lands we all enjoy remain eligible for future wilderness designation. This means paying close attention to what’s going on in the places we love, working with the federal agencies through administrative procedures like Forest and Travel Planning, which establish long-term forest management, forming coalitions where possible, and challenging bad land management decisions.
While our goal is to preserve the wilderness qualities of all of Montana’s pubic lands, our main focus is on protecting lands free of roads and other major development especially lands that are geographically or historically important to Montanans and people across the nation.
