BLM to lease Sleeping Giant for drilling (2010-09-08) The Bureau of Land Management has released an Environmental Assessment proposing to lease land near the Sleeping Giant/Sheep Creek Wilderness Study Areas for oil and gas drilling.
Crossing Boundaries: Musings on Bach in the Backcountry (2010-04-06) Helena, MT—On Tuesday April 6, 2010, at 7:00 pm, the Wild Divide Chapter of the Montana Wilderness Association will present “Crossing Boundaries: Musings on Bach in the Backcountry,” a collaborative performance piece featuring professional violist, Jennifer Smith, and outdoor writer, Scott Friskics. The performance will take place at UM Helena College of Technology Room 125. UM Helena is located at 1115 North Roberts Street in Helena. The performance is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Montanans come together to support Forest Jobs and Recreation Act (2009-07-17) Townsend, MT— Representatives of Montana timber mills, conservationists and sportsmen’s groups applauded the introduction of Sen. Jon Tester’s Forest Jobs and Recreation Act, calling it a bold new vision for providing jobs, while enhancing Montana’s clean water and outdoor heritage. A broad coalition of Montanans, including Montana sawmills, business advocates, wilderness advocates, motorized riders and rod-and-gun clubs, voiced strong support for the legislation.
